Macbeth auditions
Tuesday 6th June and Thursday 8th June 2023
7.30pm – Rehearsal Room 1, University Drama Studio
Auditions for SUDS’ next production will take place on the above dates. Everyone is welcome, particularly new members. You only need to attend one of the auditions.
Both auditions will take place at 7.30pm in Rehearsal Room 1 at the Drama Studio, Shearwood Road, Sheffield. The entrance is on the right as you go up the hill, just beyond the stage door.
If you would like to audition but are unable to attend on either date, please let Ian know as soon as possible so alternative arrangements can be made: ian.gledhill11@gmail.com
There are over 30 roles in Macbeth so there are opportunities for everyone. Macbeth has more female roles than most of Shakespeare’s plays and the director will consider not casting men in some of the roles traditionally seen as male. SUDS welcomes actors regardless of gender identity at all auditions.
Please see the following:
Audition pieces
If you wish to prepare for a particular role, only the pieces listed will be auditioned. Line references are to the Penguin Classics edition of the play but will be similar in other editions.
Character list
This is only a very basic description of the characters as more detailed interpretation will be agreed during the rehearsal process.
In July there will be a cast read through of the play and one or two rehearsals for certain characters (dates to be confirmed). There will be no rehearsals in August and we’ll start regular rehearsals w/c 4th September (dates to be confirmed). Performances will be 8th – 11th November.
If you have any questions about the auditions, or about the production in general, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Looking forward to seeing you at the auditions!
