FAQ’s
Looking for the websites for the Sheffield University student societies?
Please note that we are a society made up of Sheffield University staff, alumni and members of the local Sheffield community. Although we welcome past and current students to our society, we know people may be looking for the university’s affiliated student groups. For more information on those organisations, you might like to visit the pages for Sheffield University Theatre Company or Sheffield University Performing Arts Society or for more information on student groups, visit the Sheffield University students’ union site.
Our Productions
We normally stage two or three productions a year in the well-equipped University Drama Studio. Our productions include a wide range of theatre, including much-loved classics, modern plays and new adaptations, some of which are not often tackled by amateurs.
Alongside our main productions, we also stage one-off short performances and showcase new writing, often working in collaboration with local groups and charities including The Friends of Porter Valley.
Our History
SUDS has its origins in the long-established Staff Dramatic Society and retains close links with the University of Sheffield and approximately half the membership still consists of University staff, past and present, and their families.
As well as performances, the Society arranges play-readings and social nights. Members receive a regular newsletter which keeps them up-to-date with plans for forthcoming productions and all the society’s activities. You can find out more about what’s coming up next on our Facebook page.
