At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the Society had to suspend work on our production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, originally to be staged from 22th to 25th April 2020. We continued rehearsals online, in the hope that circumstances would eventually allow us to bring the show to a live stage.
However, as the months went by it became increasingly clear that covid restrictions did not favour the production of a play like Les Liaisons. And after two years’ delay, when an opportunity finally arose, the dates available for a performance proved unsuitable for members of the cast.
We have regretfully decided that we must cancel this proposed production. The director, cast and crew for Les Liaisons Dangereuses have shown immense patience and commitment over many months, and we are all disappointed that the work which went into the production has not come to fruition. But the camaraderie which characterises all our activity will help us resume our normal activities as we plan to stage other shows in the near future.
In the meantime, you can watch the best of our online rehearsal of Les Liaisons that we held in May 2021. Click here to watch the video.
